Nutcracker
by Robert Welch
A classic Robert Welch design and a welcome addition to any home, this cast iron machine creates a sense of ceremony around the cracking of the nut. Each crack is a mini performance and makes the act of eating even more pleasurable.
In 1955, fresh from the Royal College of Art, Robert Welch rented a small room in the Old Silk Mill in Chipping Campden and set up his drawing board and a truckle bed - an inauspicious start for a man whose strong design principles would later make him an MBE and a Royal Designer for Industry. Producing some of the most classic and sustainable pieces of our time, the company was recently commissioned to design the cutlery for British Airways First Class.
