Superfolk's summer prints are back in season, and the delicate depictions of nettles, gorse and dandelions all have a surprising but reassuringly earthy connection.
It's not that they are all weeds — a tenuous description at the best of times, but one which we think does not apply here. These are all plants that we are delighted to host, as they are all edible, and tasty too.
This series by Superfolk, like their seaweed prints, is inspired by the landscape of west Ireland, and the plants you can forage along the coast. Nettles make a great soup, dandelions are perfect in a salad and there's nothing quite like gorse in a cocktail.
These handmade lino prints do full justice to the complex and delicate plants, and help us see the full beauty of these sometimes irksome weeds.
"When gorse is out of bloom, kissing is out of season."
Quote, Old Folk Saying
Quote, Oxford English Dictionary
"Weed: A wild plant growing where it is not wanted."
