Summer relaxing can often mean gin for us and recently friends of ours, visiting from New York, brought over some super nice gin. It is from a Brooklyn based small batch distillery called Green Hook. Lovely bottle and more importantly, an amazing gin, the most aromatic we have ever smelt. It's amazingness is apparently down to the mercury vacuum in the still. The maker, a Gin Smith, Steven, says his passion is for "unerringly excellent gin"; we like his attitude. If you are about New York and gin is your thing, it is well worth finding a bottle.

This afternoon we are using our Jerpoint water glasses, chilling them, salting the rim, ice, gin, grapefruit, stir, slice of lime, and consuming at will. Try it, we believe its called a 'Salty Dog'.
