Crockery is a new collection, of fine bone china tableware by Max lamb. We have just got it in Stock. It is a rather beautiful family of items that is slowly growing as Max develops new additions. What we find most interesting however is the process. The hand carving of the desired form by Max bypasses the normal sequences and places the responsibility of the model-making in his hands. Using the tools of a stonemason Max chipped a solid block of plaster into the shape, there was a form in mind but the detailing evolved as he worked.
Normally slip-casting begins with a three-dimensional model of the design known as the ‘master’ and this is always carved by a professional model-maker. For this collection Max takes on that role. Above is a series of shots Max took as he was working on the project. Click the arrows to view the series.
