The low winter light brings forth the most magical long lingering shadows as the sun darts across the horizon. We have been watching this recently, watching the morning light pull long abstractions out of the everyday objects that surround us. Daylight has the magical quality that can make us believe there is something beyond what we can see and touch; light and shadow bring a welcome, and all too often overlooked, poetry to the everyday.
Light and shadow brings life to materials. Objects and architecture come alive revealing their true nature, light and dark, contrasts creating the beauty.
"I have to admit that daylight, the light on things, is so moving to me that I feel it almost as a spiritual quality."
“Were it not for shadows, there would be no beauty.”
