Corkscrew | Socrates
by Jasper Morrison | Alessi
The Socrates corkscrew is a humorous allusion to the ‘Socratic method’, the philosopher's art of extracting the right answers from the person you're dealing with. Jasper Morrison’s design seeks to achieve the object's archetypal form, and ensures a smooth uncorking in a single pull.
Alessi was founded in 1921 as a metal workshop, crafting brass and nickel products of the highest quality. After almost a century as one of the leading ‘factories of Italian design’, the extensive Alessi archive maintains a strong bond with the traditions and cultural background of the Piedmont region of Italy, whilst also looking to explore change and international development in the world of design. Alessi uses its products to make people’s dreams come true, providing them with the art and poetry that they seek in everyday life.
